Blog Visitors | 3 Types of Blog Visitors to Consider before Writing your Blog Post
Blog Visitors
Your Blog Visitors are the most important to consider when writing your Blog Posts. It is critical that you understand what types of readers you are dealing with before you start crafting your posts.
After all we want to gain traffic not lose it right?
Or even worse look like the guys to the left LOL! I cannot stress the importance of understanding the different types of blog visitors that are visiting your posts.
Once you understand the different types of Blog visitors that are visiting your posts you will be able to keep your Blog Visitors thirsty for more and keep them on your site for more then 5 seconds! Key!
I read a lot of Blog Posts and what I am finding is that the person writing the Blog Post loses me with in the first 2 paragraphs.. I don’t want you to be one of these people and I know in order to understand all of this you need to know about the type of blog visitors that are visiting your Blog Post.
Having great content is important but if your Blog posts are not captivating your Blog Visitors interest with in 5 seconds then really there is no point in you even writing it!!
So let’s get to the nitty gritty so your not frustrating your Blog Post visitors anymore! Yes you are frustrating them because the majority of your readers are very busy and upon landing on your page if they find that they can’t get their answers rather quickly then their off to the next!!
Pay close attention to this because these are the people visiting your blog post and in order to captivate them and get their juices flowing you must understand your Blog Visitors mentality!
Plus we don’t want your Blog visitors looking like this woman below lol.
There are 3 types of Blog Visitors:
- The Sponge Blog Visitors The sponge reader will read every single word of your post. They will stay on your blog the longest of the three, and they will really try to understand where you are coming from and what you are saying.
They analyze and study everything and most people write their Blog Posts assuming all of their readers are like this. Which couldn’t be further from the truth and really only a small percentage of people are like this.
- The skimmer Blog Visitors will do just that, skim your article. They will rarely read every word because they are in a hurry. They will only stay on your blog for a short time, usually a minute or two at the very most.
Your actually probably a skimmer yourself!
The skimmer has developed the skill of being able to “get the gist” of an article by just skimming it quickly. For them, that’s all they need to do to feel good about it. In my opinion, the majority of readers to our blogs are skimmers. We live in a fast-paced world, we have new information coming at us constantly, and many of us fall into this category. I know I do, I’m definitely a skimmer. Most of your Blog post visitors are skimmers so it is important to write your posts for these types of Blog visitors.
- The First Sentence Fireball Blog Visitors - The reader that is a first sentence fireball does what the name implies. They will read the first sentence of each paragraph, check out the images, and that’s all. Many times these people are visually stimulated, so if your blog looks blah… they won’t even read the first sentence.
These fireballs may have dozens of blogs in their Google Reader and many times they read a lot of content every day. They aren’t interested in the whole article; they just want to know the bare bones basics, like a quick outline. People that are very active on Digg are known for reading a ton of content daily, but they don’t actually read everything they click on. In my opinion, that type of reader would fall into this category.
I am this type of Blog Visitor too! So I can relate to the blogs looking BLAH BLAH and the posts looking MUSHED together!
Or even worse like a fuzzy T.V I am sure you have looked at blog posts and have felt a little woozy or fuzzy LOL! I notice this a lot people write a Blog Post like they’re writing a novel. Which is a big no no!
Now you know what types of Blog visitors you are actually dealing with which will really help you in crafting some awesome content. In tomorrows post I am going to go over exactly how to create content for all of your Blog Post visitors. This will get you ROCKIN out some killer content that will captivate your whole audience!!

I am a skimmer and a first sentence fireball because like you I read a lot of blogs every day. But, April, when it comes to your blog post I tend to read every word. Why? Because you always offer insightful tib-bits that I can use. Thanks!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
I have found that when I like someone’s blog, after skimming through the first few posts, I tend to read every word. I also analyse and dissect and even check out their Alexa score to see if it’s worth my time returning to it time and time again. I guess that makes me a minority – a sponge. I like that. Thank you.

Awesome post, April. You’re right, most of us write our blog posts with the expectation that everyone is going sit down and read every single word, me included. After reading this post, I got a ton of value which I will be applying to my post to make it more “user-friendly”.
Thanks for sharing. You ROCK!
